Daughter of the Pirate King- Book Review

by

So let me start by saying that this book was amazing! Tricia Levenseller has a gem on her hands!

First, this book immediately grabbed by attention because of the elements of danger. Right from the start of the book, the characters didn't waste anytime engaging each other and standing their ground. These characters establish their dominance and their motives right from the start, so you are left without wondering. You are given this "aha" moment with Alosa as you find out what her purpose is from the start, so it leaves you eager to read on and see how she goes about accomplishing it and dealing with the danger.

The world of pirates seems pretty typical and predictable- All about who has the best ship, who can wield a sword, who can get the most women, and who can get the biggest treasure- but that is what is so great about this book! Tricia Levenseller gives us a wonderful female heroine that defies all stereotypes about pirates. She is full of life and spunk and isn't afraid to give it as good as she gets!

I have to say that the romance aspect of this story was really good, but it still left me wanting. With Alosa and her love interest, it is very slow to begin with and it seems rather one sided at first. It really establishes itself toward the end, but you are still left wanting just a bit more.

Overall, I give this book 4 stars because everything about it was really amazing. It kept me on the edge of my seat, and it never lacked adventure, but the romantic aspect of this story could have been developed a bit more.
