Rebel of the Sands (Rebel of the Sands, #1) by Alwyn Hamilton (Goodreads Author) - Book Review

What an incredible story! A must read!

When I first saw the cover of the book, I was thinking of Aladdin and the whirlwind romance between Aladdin and Jasmine. However, this story gives Aladdin and Jasmine a run for their money.

The story is set in, what I like to call, the "Wild West of Arabia." It's about a girl named Amani who has big dreams of travel and adventure but is stuck in this rather small, dead-end town that offers her no future. Then she meets Jin and her whole world changes. Even though she is on the run with Jin, she finds that she has more freedom being a fugitive than she ever had when she wasn't a wanted criminal.

Who would have thought the desert would be such a fascinating place? Alwyn Hamilton's use of imagery offers us a world of wonder, making even the dry desert an oasis for the book lover's soul.

What's great about this story is that it's romantic, but the romance isn't overpowering. Though I am a huge fan of romantic stories, I like equal amounts of adventure and romance. Hamilton gives us equal amounts of both without leaving us wanting.

The only thing that I didn't care for (and this is just a subjective analysis) is that it seemed to start off slow. It did eventually take off and I couldn't put the book down, but it took getting past the first little section to really get into it.

Overall, I give this book 4 stars because it's a brilliant story that should not be missed!
